Ruth K. Mullen has over thirty years of investment management experience, as well as a background in trust, estate and retirement plan administration. Prior to joining Parsons Capital Management in 2008, Ruth was a principal in Ocean State Asset Management and, before that, with New England Trust Company since 1980.

Working in tandem with her son John Mullen, Ruth is known for her unflinching advice and guidance through both challenging and robust times, for her ability to understand specific client needs and managing client portfolios to support them, and for her clear communications.

Ruth is a member of the board of overseers for the Providence Children's Museum and a member of the finance committee for Save The Bay, where she also chairs the investment committee. She provides advice to the finance committee of Community MusicWorks, which builds relationships between musicians and families in urban neighborhoods of Providence. She has served as chair of the finance committee and a board member for the Providence Country Day School. She has been active at the Rhode Island Foundation and the Providence Public Library Foundation, where she served on the board of trustees and as treasurer. In 2010, she received an award from the Providence Public Library Foundation in recognition of her service on the investment committee.

She graduated from Vassar College and received a master's degree from the New School for Social Research in New York.
